Good book for starters
This is a good, basic book on what you’re looking at in the sky. The spiral bound book has numerous charts, for different times of the year.

Great little book for binocular astronomy
I used this book at the recent Okie-Tex star party to try it out. I was successful in finding every object that appeared above the horizon.
